Locrian ‘Infinite Dissolution’ Cassette & T-Shirt Pre-Order, EU/UK Tour Dates

LOCRIAN ‘INFINITE DISSOLUTION’ AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW!
We’re beyond excited to announce that we will be working with longtime friends Locrian on our next release.  ANTI-MATTER RECORDS will be releasing the cassette edition of the band’s most recent opus ‘Infinite Dissolution’ as well as offering a limited edition T-Shirt to accompany the release.

2015 marks the 10 year anniversary of Locrian and to celebrate, the band wanted to be sure to have their new recording released on the format that helped get them started... and we couldn’t be happier that they’ve entrusted us with this honor.
Relapse Records describes the recording:
Experimental, avant-black metal artisans LOCRIAN return with Infinite Dissolution, another dark and cinematic work of exceptional aural artistry. More epic and foreboding than anything in the prolific trio's catalog, Infinite Dissolution was produced by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles) and is a multi-part concept album dealing with the struggle of mortality. A seamless and harrowing blend of dark ambience, drone, black metal, post-rock, and experimental electronics, Infinite Dissolution is the perfect manifestation of modern, forward-thinking experimental music.
To celebrate the release of the cassette we’ve also decided to print a small run of T-Shirts as well.  This design will be sold through the ANTI-MATTER RECORDS webstore exclusively and on the band’s EU/UK tour coming up in December.  Metallic silver ink on black Gildan soft style 100% cotton shirts.  You can order the shirts separately on their own or as a package deal with the cassette at a discounted price.  We’ve decided to collaborate with the fine folks at Holy Mountain Printing for the manufacturing of the shirts, so expect nothing but the best quality from these bad boys.

TERENCE HANNUM: NEW ZINE & BENEFIT AUCTION

Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sale Starts This Friday!

It’s that time of year again... BLACK FRIDAY!  Last year, here at ANTI-MATTER we didn’t do a sale for Black Friday because there just wasn’t enough time to really pull one together.  We did one two years ago however, and it was a huge success so we’re really glad that we are able to rise above this year.
This year, we’ll be offering 30% your entire purchase starting this Friday at 12am EST through the 30th.  This sale includes everything in the store.  That means all ANTI-MATTER releases (both physical & digital formats), all distributed releases, all apparel, 12”s, 10”s, 7”s, 5”s, cassettes, CD’s... EVERYTHING!  There’s even still some of the Land of Decay back catalogue for you to save some money on if you missed last month’s sale.
Once again, if you really want to do some damage, we’re going to throw in free shipping on all orders that are $60.00 or more in the continental US. You can’t beat that!

Nite Comfort 26: Cetacea + Evan Wainio-Woldanski

This edition of the Nite finds us exploring dark ambience and the measureless void of the quantum vacuum as we move from the balmy to the boreal.

CETACEA 10pm
Main protagonist behind the spectral metal / experimental project Gates. Composer and multi instrumentalist traversing the territories of composed and improvised methods and music. Current solo work with Cetacea and previous (mostly) solo ambient/drone work with Gardenia.
EVAN WAINIO-WOLDANSKI 9pm
Evan Wainio-Woldanski makes rooms of sound with electronic drones, synth arpeggios, and abstract walls of noise. These drones still maintain physicality through contrasting low and high frequencies akin to noise music. Evan Wainio-Woldanski re-contextualizes and reflects the dense history of electronic music.
Join us for this episode in the ongoing search for genre-defying, boundary-pushing music and other hidden gems in the heart of the city. The 1st Sunday of each month, focusing on live eclectic, electronic, ambient, drowsy beats, loose bytes, droney feats, psychic lights, live visuals, noisy tangents, artful dodging.

Cetacea October 2015 Toronto Shows

Via Astral Ra:
Cetacea will have three performances this month in Toronto. The first is tonight at Handlebar (156 Augusta) in Kensington Market for edition number 26 of the monthly Nite Comfort series curated by Aaron Dawson of Dirty Inputs & Off the International Radar. I have been working on new material and will be using the live performances as a way to develop it before recording. To coincide with each show there will be other recordings made available online via bandcamp and if circumstances remain favorable a limited cassette tape or two may manifest in time for one or both of the remaining two shows.

Currently available is copies of the Invocation Vol. 1 cassette compilation by the newly launched Fire In Heaven Records run by Jason Pollard of Invocation TO. Cetacea shares track space on this comp with a great cast of fellow Toronto musicians such as Black Walls, Loom, M. Mucci, Hexzuul and many others. I did the design and layout of the tape with some assistance from Stephen Wilson of Unknown Relic. Visit the bandcamp link to purchase. VERY limited amount available online.

Subsequent releases will include a two-track release featuring a longer version of the Invocation comp track, 'Lost In a Corridor of Sand' plus another piece from the same recording sessiont and a live recording of previous material performed this past May for a short tour with Andrew Hock. This along with some other unreleased material from the 2012 'Glyphs' recording sessions are ideally destined for some limited cassettes.

Cavern light ‘Corporeal’ Cassette Available Now

Cavernlight’s debut recording entitled ‘Corporeal’ is now available (via ANTI-MATTER RECORDS) through their bandcamp page. Pro-dubbed cassettes, J-cards printed on un-coated stock, grey imprint on black shells. Download code included. Limited to 100 copies.
Here’s what the band had to say:
"We are very proud to announce that our debut recording has been released on cassette by ANTI-MATTER RECORDS. Side A is 27m16s of doom/sludge/noise and side B is 27m16s of droning ambience. You can hear the full recording and purchase the tape at our bandcamp page (cavernlight.bandcamp.com) - or if you’re in Milwaukee, come see us with False and Hivelords (amongst some other great bands) this Saturday at Quarters on Center St in Riverwest.”
Cavernlight is an effort based firmly on the concept of self-reflection and self-discovery through means of total sonic catharsis. By gathering individual powers and combining visceral energies, those involved strive to attain clearer mind and expanded vision. A search for the ability to find realization and truth in things otherwise obscured by the oppressive nature of daily existence.
Although in its current form Cavernlight is yet in an infancy, the personal and creative bonds that connect its individual members trace back over fifteen years. Shared experiences and life paths motivate these four voices that call out in unison. This debut recording, ‘Corporeal', is the sound of those voices drawing on past experiences exploring doom, noise, drone, electronic, and black metal. The past lends its knowledge and wisdom to help chart a course for this new path, one that travels through shadowy groves into valleys of dense fog. Into places of a brooding darkness touched by angst and suffering.
Here is to the ember that burns in the endless dark. Only through loss can its light be seen. Many doorways stand open to those that dare to cross the threshold.

MeatMeadMetal: Tecumseh Deliver Two Heaping Helpings of Dream Drone with New ‘Violet’ and ‘For the Night’

Our buddy Brian Krasman from Meat Mead Metal has some really insightful thoughts on both of Tecumseh’s new releases “Violet” and “For the Night”. Both are still available now from ANTI-MATTER RECORDS. Read the reviews and then go and purchase!!
It’s always a curiosity to me how a specific form of music affects people in such different ways. Drone, for instance, is today’s topic, and I’ve always found it stimulating and relaxing, something I could put on while digging deeply into a project that requires me to be at my peak. On the other hand, my wife can’t listen to it at all, as it makes her nervous and overly anxious. You couldn’t have two more diametrically opposing feelings about the same style of music.
That takes us to Tecumseh and their great two new releases “Violet” and “For the Night,” brought to you by Baltimore-based label Anti-Matter Records. Both efforts shine a huge amount of Sunn 0))) rays on the proceedings, and each record has been a pleasure to behold the past few weeks at work while I put together product spreadsheets. The music floats in the air, stings you with electricity, but also calms and soothes the frayed nerve endings in a way most metal does not. OK, so my wife hasn’t heard these yet, and she’s likely be driven up a wall, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. There’s a local group that holds Black Yoga classes around the Pittsburgh area (they recently were featured in Decibel and can be found here: http://blackyoga.blogspot.com), and the music from these Tecumseh albums sound like they’d be ideal for helping people branch out, find their inner peace, and make good with the chaos surrounding them.
Based out of Portland, Ore., this three-piece unit formed in 2004 and combine musicians John Krausbauer (formerly of doom metal crushers Trees); Jeremy Long, known for his electronic-based solo project Brown and his work with Hive; and Ian Hawk, whose background is in the visual arts and recently collaborated on the film “AutoPriest.” Together they create something truly cinematic and sweeping, and if your imagination can keep up with them, you’re in for a hell of a ride on these two records.
“Violet” has the most songs with three, and it opens with the shortest cut found on either record with “Final Light, Last Light,” a serving of low rumbling noise, shimmering playing, and strains that make it feel like you’re staring right into the early morning sun. Then it’s onto “Serenade for the Dead,” a 12:56-long excursion into simmering drone, slowly building sounds, and guitars that begin to give off serious energy. It feels like beams of light are royally protruding from the track’s guts, as waves of buzzing and doom fog roll out and encapsulate the entire landscape. The band keeps everything pulsating, and you might find the melodies are driling right into your head, forcing your concentration and, at the same time, opening up your consciousness to new possibilities. “Vincennes” is the closer, running 11:39, and it wafts a thick haze, melodies that are buried beneath the murk, and a sense that you are walking through a humid summer scene, with the damp air creating a film on your face. The buzzing makes it seem like you are surrounded by hungry insects looking for blood, and the churning that floods over gives you a good mental workout. The end of the song feels more threatening than everything else on here, and the track eventually fades into darkness, taking your imagination with it into the unknown.
“For the Night” is a two-track collection that runs about 20 minutes, and it starts with “Darkness Swallowing the Air,” a song that resembles its title. Drone dominates, though melodies emerge and bubble, constantly changing their complexion. This track reminds me a little bit of “Serenade” and could be its darker twin, as noise roils and bends, sounds pierce you and leave the slightest red trickle, and the cut allows itself to bleed out after making its case. It’s a really mesmerizing 11 minutes. “Great Lakes” starts with horror-style strings and a sense of eeriness, but you don’t feel like you need to jump out of the way. Instead, the music rushes the senses and makes you a curious spectator, as the track takes you along dangerous paths one should not walk, into unsettling waters, and finally toward an unassuming end that could cause you to tilt your head. You’re probably supposed to write you own mental conclusion, which allows you to be an active participant in the tale.
Yes, Tecumseh can be a little frightening at times, and that might make some wonder how that can be a relaxing, thought-provoking scene like I mentioned earlier. I guess you just have to have the right frame of mind. The darkness on these two efforts raises my awareness and my creative thought, while the waves of drone wash over me and let my mind realize it’s a mental, not physical, journey. The fact I can invest so deeply in this music is worth its existence to me, and while drone might not be for everyone, the ones who do get it will get lost inside the realms of “Violet” and “For the Night.”

Tecumseh “Violet” & “For the Night” Pre-Orders + “Serenade for the Dead” streaming at Black Metal and Brews

Tecumseh is a minimal avant garde/drone/noise outfit hailing from Portland, OR which consists of John Krausbauer, Ian Hawk, & Jeremy Long from Portland, OR. and ANTI-MATTER couldn’t be happier about pairing up with the band to bring you not just one, but TWO new releases!!
Tecumseh began in 2004 with the intent to create heavy, trance-inducing, long-form/long-duration drone music - minimal in composition and structure but maximum in volume and repetition. Originally dedicated to the riff as the vehicle to achieve this goal, it has since expanded to include more ambient and open-ended/improvisational areas of exploration. After a few early changes in the line-up, the core group solidified with (founder) John Krausbauer, Ian Hawk, Jeremy Long, and shortly after, Garek Druss. The group has held a long tradition of collaborating with satellite players/members of the group, including Agnes Szelag (“Violet”), Andrew Crawshaw (“Violet"), Taryn Tomasello (“Violet”), Jonathan Sielaff, Bob Bellerue, amongst many others.
John Krausbauer has a long history in the experimental music scenes of the West Coast as both composer/improvisor and instrumentalist, including his work with his heavy-minimalist doom group - Trees (from 2006-2011), as well as numerous other projects, both solo and in collaboration. Jeremy Long has been working for a number of years in a solo capacity with his electronics endeavor - Brown, in addition to his more recent collaboration with Chris Phillips, under the moniker Hive. Ian Hawk mostly works in the visual arts, including a recent film collaboration ("AutoPriest") with Gib Edleman, for which he also did soundtrack work. Garek Druss is a fixture on the Seattle art and music scenes, having spent many years working in collaboration with Adam Svenson in Dull Knife, his own solo work - (a) Story of Rats, and for a brief time playing in the doom/death rock group Atriarch.
Previous recorded output includes:“Crossing Divides” LP (Anarchymoon/Black Horizons)
“Avalanche and Inundation” LP/CD (Important)
“sea(s)” 12” (Black Horizons)
“Return to Everything” CD (Beta-Lactam Ring)
The newest recordings to be released via ANTI-MATTER RECORDS... “Violet” (LP) and “For the Night” (10”), come from separate recording sessions done in Oakland, CA with Salvador Raya (Asunder, Laundanum) at Earhammer Studios.  “For the Night” was recorded during the same sessions in 2009 that produced “Return to Everything” (BLRR), and the “Violet” LP was recorded a couple of years later in 2011 during a west coast touring expedition.  Mastering for both recordings was executed by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Mastering in Portland, OR.  Artwork for “Violet” was executed by Tauba Auerbach while the art for “For the Night” was handled by Aran Marciniak and Ian Hawk.
Each release will be pressed in an edition run of 300 copies on the vinyl format in two different color variations each.  “Violet” will see 200 copies on black vinyl and 100 copies on white vinyl while “For the Night” will see 200 copies on black vinyl and 100 copies on clear vinyl.
Both releases have gone into production and should be available shortly.  “Violet” being available first followed by “For the Night" a few weeks after.  Pre-Orders for physical copies have gone live and digital downloads are available immediately in the ANTI-MATTER web-store.  Digital downloads are available through iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody and just about every other digital outlet you can think of as well, although I suggest ordering from our web-store... it’s much cheaper and you get a a bonus digital layout with your download.
In the meantime, while you’re placing your orders for releases, don’t forget to head over to the Black Metal & Brews website to get  a taste for what’s in store with an exclusive stream of the second track from “Violet" entitled “Serenade for the Dead”.

Anti-Matter Joins Forces with Merchtable

ANTI-MATTER RECORDS is immensely excited to announce that after long thought and consideration, we’ve decided to team up with the wonderful people at Merchtable to take over the duties of handling our webstore.
Merchtable are the same great people who have bring us Blue Collar Distro for the past 10+ years for bands and record labels such as Isis, At a Loss Recordings, Coalesce, The Get Up Kids, Hydrahead Records, Southern Lord, and so many more.  They're a full service company which will handle all of the day to day maintenance and upkeep of the webstore as well as handle all packing and shipping responsibilities of all orders. Orders are filled daily, Monday through Friday, excluding national and postal holidays which means for us, there will be no more self storage, no more post office runs, no more calculating shipping and most importantly, for you, no more delays with your orders!
The past two years have been great with all things label related.  However, being a one man operation, it is extremely hard to find time to take care of everything that needs to get done in a timely fashion.  At this point in time, Blue Collar Distro is in the process of changing over from their initial format to this new one and it seemed like the perfect time to join forces with them.  We’re looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship together.
The new web-store should be launching soon and when it does there will be a distro update as well as pre-orders for the next two new releases from the ANTI-MATTER camp.
If you haven’t already, click below to check out all of the various different stores on their site and keep your a look out in your inbox for the announcement about the new releases and distro update.
